Using Your Own Stem Cells During Spine or Orthopedic Surgery.

Our Fellowship Trained Orthopedic Spine Surgeons at The Spine Institute at RMSO in partnership with The Premier Stem Cell Institute are the most experienced in providing stem cells with spine and orthopedic surgeries.

Stem cells already exist in the body to help regenerate cells and healing. They lie dormant in areas of the body, such as the bone marrow. They “wake up” when they receive signals that the body has suffered some type of injury – inflammation is a trigger. During surgery, the use of your own stem cells may be able to  help your body recover and heal faster.

Our goal in using stem cell therapy is to take stem cells from one part of an individual’s body, where they exist in higher concentrations, and inject them into an injured area to potentially help reinforce their power. The hope is that those stem cells will take cues from surrounding cells of certain, specific types (bone, cartilage, muscle, or other connective tissue) and develop into that similar type of cell, repairing the site.

Every individual is different. Two key determinants for success are dependent on the severity of your condition and your body’s response to stem cell therapy. You may have already been diagnosed with a condition that requires surgery or you may be needing answers about a current spine or orthopedic condition. We urge you to contact The Spine Institute at RMSO today to learn more about your condition and if you are a candidate for surgery and/or  the use of your own stem cells during surgery.
